Education Cannot Wait (ECW) announced today US$5 million in new funding for the education in emergencies response in war-torn Sudan.

ECW is the United Nations' global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises.

In a press release extended to Radio Tamazuj, ECW urged donors, the private sector and philanthropic foundations to quickly mobilize more funding for Sudan.

“(This will) make children and adolescents literate, learn critical thinking, address trauma and psycho-social challenges from being victims of a conflict or crisis, develop their potential, and become financially independent,” Sherif said, adding that these were critical skills to participate in good governance of their countries in the future.

The humanitarian aid organization, World Vision, through the project "Education Cannot Wait" managed to rehabilitate classrooms and bathrooms in educational institutions in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. This was achieved with the support of the Ministry of Education to increase the quality and improve access to education for more than 300 girls and boys belonging to the migrant, returnee and host population.

Education Cannot Wait (ECW), an organization dedicated to providing education to children affected by crises, was honored with a bronze award. Its overhauled website, developed in partnership with Vardot, received recognition for its outstanding achievement. By employing effective design and user-friendly navigation, the new Drupal-driven platform enhances ECW’s capacity to engage and communicate with its audience more efficiently, thus promoting its mission.
