Il a bouleversé le quotidien de milliers d'enfants, contraints de partir de chez eux, privés de scolarité, à tel point que des ONG s'inquiètent des conséquences pour leur avenir. C'est le cas d’Éducation sans délai. Un Fonds mondial des Nations unies pour l'éducation qui vient de débloquer une aide de 3 millions de dollars pour accompagner les enfants déplacés au Tchad. Pays qui accueille plus de 60 000 réfugiés soudanais, dont 70% des enfants. Yasmine Sherif, directrice exécutive de l'organisation, vient de rentrer d'une visite de cinq jours à Ndjamena. Entretien.

Tras la misión sobre el terreno de alto nivel de Education Cannot Wait (ECW) con ACNUR a las regiones fronterizas de Chad con Sudán, donde han llegado recientemente 60.000 refugiados, la directora ejecutiva de ECW, Yasmine Sherif, anunció una subvención de 3 millones de dólares para la Primera Respuesta de Emergencia.

La financiación proporcionará acceso a entornos de aprendizaje seguros y protectores a las niñas y niños refugiados que llegan al país y apoyará a las comunidades de acogida. Con esta nueva subvención, las inversiones totales de ECW en Chad superan los 41 millones de dólares.

Following Education Cannot Wait's (ECW) high-level field mission with UNHCR to the border regions of Chad with Sudan where 60,000 refugees have arrived recently, ECW Executive Director Yasmine Sherif announced a US$3 million First Emergency Response grant.

The funding will provide access to safe and protective learning environments for incoming refugee girls and boys and support the host communities. The new grant brings ECW's total investments in Chad to over US$41 million.

O financiamento oferecerá acesso a ambientes de aprendizagem seguros e de proteção para meninas e meninos refugiados que chegarem e apoiará as comunidades que os recebem. O novo subsídio eleva os investimentos totais da ECW em Chade para mais de US$41 milhões.

Desde que o conflito entrou em erupção no Sudão no país em 15 de abril, mais de 200.000 pessoas cruzaram as fronteiras para a República Centro-Africana do Chade, Egito, Etiópia e Sudão do Sul. O ACNUR estima que esse número possa chegar a 860.000 como resultado do conflito crescente.

On Mental Health Awareness month, the Executive Director of the UN’s global fund for education in emergencies, Education Cannot Wait, calls for expanded support for crisis-impacted children worldwide.

Millions of children and adolescents witness family members attacked and killed. They see their homes burnt to the ground. They flee through the night in search of safety. They live in constant fear and violence. The abnormal has become “normal” in their life. Indeed, this is the reality facing many of the 222 million children and adolescents worldwide whose lives and mental well-being are affected, as a result of brutal conflicts and forced displacement, all while their education is disrupted.

Under the ‘strengthening institutional education information systems for data driven Education in Emergencies (EIE) and resilience to crises project’, funded by Education Cannot Wait (ECW), UNESCO Juba office supported the Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MOGEI) in strengthening their data systems and progress towards a more capable integrated platform through facilitating a study visit (peer to peer learning visit) to Rwanda Ministry of Education at the end of March, 2023.

2023 marks an important milestone as we are now midway in the ambition to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In September 2015, world leaders agreed on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, initiated on 1st January 2016. The seventeen SDGS focus on ending poverty, addressing inequalities, and climate change to ensure no one is left behind.
