Launch: Menu of Measures for Gender-Based Violence Risk Mitigation in the Education in Emergencies Sector

In observance of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), Education Cannot Wait (ECW), and UNICEF invite you to a webinar launching the Menu of Measures for Gender-Based Violence Risk Mitigation in the Education in Emergencies Sector. This web event will be conducted in English with interpretation in French and Spanish. 

While the EiE sector has made significant progress in integrating GBV risk mitigation, recent funding cuts and pushback against gender equity and child rights threaten to undermine these achievements. It is more important than ever to stand in solidarity and to reaffirm our responsibility to ensure that children and youth living in crisis-affected contexts are safe in and around schools. INEE, ECW, and UNICEF are proud to release a practical new tool that helps EiE practitioners operationalize this duty.

The Menu of Measures on Gender-Based Violence Risk Mitigation in the Education in Emergencies Sector offers a compilation of validated indicators and accompanying guidance to track the effectiveness of GBV risk mitigation interventions in education in emergencies programming. This tool aims to equip education practitioners with a methodology to track and analyze the appropriateness, effectiveness, and sustainability of their GBV risk mitigation interventions.

In addition to launching this new tool, this online event will also be an occasion for key stakeholders to:

• Reflect on the importance of GBV risk mitigation in EiE programs
• Identify how to strengthen accountability for GBV risk mitigation in the sector
• Advocate for continued prioritization of GBV risk mitigation despite funding cuts and de-prioritization of EiE in the humanitarian reset
