Several humanitarian organisations, including Education Cannot Wait (ECW), a United Nations global, billion-dollar fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises, called on the Taliban authorities in Kabul to reverse their decision to suspend the university education of Afghan women after the Taliban ordered an indefinite ban on it.

Many Islamic countries and organisations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), have condemned the ban on women's and girls' access to work and education as a violation of Islamic law. Since August 15, 2021, the de facto authorities have barred girls from attending secondary school, restricted women and girls' freedom of movement, excluded women from most areas of the workforce, and banned women from using parks, gyms and public bath houses. These restrictions culminate with the confinement of Afghan women and girls to the four walls of their homes.After the Taliban ordered an indefinite ban on university education for Afghan girls, several humanitarian organizations, including Education Cannot Wait (ECW), a United Nations global, billion-dollar fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises called on the Taliban authorities in Kabul to revoke their decision to suspend the university education of Afghan women.

The work done to help children get an education is often delivered very rapidly by Education Cannot Wait, and I want to highlight the opportunity for the UK to continue to show its global leadership in this area with the upcoming replenishment of the Education Cannot Wait budget. I am sure the Minister and her officials will be carefully studying the results that Education Cannot Wait has delivered in settings around the world. I hope that the data still show the good impact and powerful value for money that that funding produces, and that the UK can therefore lead on that important work and crowd in other countries to contribute to it.

Februar in Genf stattfindet, werden führende Politiker aus der ganzen Welt zusammenkommen, um ihre Zusagen einzuhalten und sicherzustellen, dass jedes Kind überall eine hochwertige Bildung erhält.

Auf der hochrangigen Finanzierungskonferenz für "Education Cannot Wait" (Bildung kann nicht warten)), die am 16. und 17. Februar in Genf stattfindet, werden führende Politiker aus der ganzen Welt zusammenkommen, um ihre Zusagen einzuhalten und sicherzustellen, dass jedes Kind überall eine hochwertige Bildung erhält.
 

On the International Day of Education, we join donors, UN agencies and civil society partners in calling on world leaders to deliver on the promises outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially our commitment to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all (SDG4).” Several new mechanisms and growing multilateral funds will unite us in our efforts to deliver on these goals, including Education Cannot Wait (ECW), the International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd), the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and other key strategic global funds.

Ce nombre a triplé depuis : ils sont aujourd’hui 222 millions.
