An estimated 246 million girls and boys experience violence in and around schools every year. Despite knowing the huge scale and wide-reaching impacts of SRGBV not enough is being done politically and at the education policy level to end violence in schools, and to recognise and address the gendered drivers and dimensions of violence.

This brief sets out clear and specific recommendations for governments to urgently prioritize and implement so that all schools are safe places for all students whatever their gender identity, gender expression and/or sexual orientation. Youth and survivor leaders' message is clear: now is the time for action.
